Police seek information about dog found stranded near Lake Natoma

Cattle dog.jpgFolsom police are seeking information regarding a dog (pictured) that was rescued Sunday night after it was found stranded on a ledge at the bottom of cliffs at Lake Natoma.

A sergeant with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation noticed the dog, and Folsom Fire Department crews responded about 7 p.m. Sunday, deploying a boat to rescue the animal.

Officials believe the dog, a female Queensland Heeler mix, may have fallen into the water upstream from the Folsom Lake Crossing. She was very weak when rescued but is recovering at the Folsom Animal Shelter, according to a Police Department news release.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Folsom Police Animal Control Officer Cindy Walden at (916) 439-2268.
