Road construction limited on I-80 to Reno during Hot August Nights

Most road construction work that could interfere with traffic on Interstate 80 will be put off during "Hot August Night" events in Reno.

Hot August Nights, the annual celebration of cars and cruising, begins today and gets into full gear late next week. Caltrans announced that most traffic-interfering work will be limited on the highway today through Aug. 13.

Motorists are advised a construction zone narrows lanes on I-80 from Emigrant Gap to Rainbow. Beware, warns Caltrans, the construction zone has a maximum speed of 55 mph and no passing is allowed.

California Highway Patrol officers will be on duty with increased enforcement in that stretch of freeway.
