Sacramento police investigate early morning homicide

The Sacramento Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a 26-year-old male early Saturday morning in old North Sacramento.

At approximately 3:15 a.m., police officers arrived at the 2500 block of Traction Avenue in Old North Sacramento after receiving multiple phone calls that reported the sound of gunshots and that someone had been shot. Upon arrival, police found the victim with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigation is ongoing regarding the circumstances leading to the shooting, and the motive for the incident has not yet been determined.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sacramento Police dispatch center at (916) 264-5471 orCrime Alert at (916) 443-4357. Tips can also be texted in to 274637 (CRIMES). Enter SACTIP followed by the tip information. Callers can remain anonymous and may qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
