Update: Coroner identifies pedestrian killed at Woodland intersection

A man hit and killed by a pickup in Woodland has been identified today as Pablo Castro, 38, of Woodland.

Castro was hit near intersection of East Street and Lemen Avenue just before 8 a.m. Monday.

Arriving Woodland police officers and firefighters found Castro lying in Lemen Avenue east of the intersection with a head injury. The driver of the pickup had stopped his vehicle nearby.

He was transported by ambulance to the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, where he was pronounced dead at 8:40 a.m.

Woodland Police Department spokesman Sgt. Steve Guthrie said on Monday that traffic investigators are unsure what caused the fatal collision but do not believe the driver of the pickup was at fault.
