80-mph chase through Woodland ends with arrest

A high-speed chase on city streets ended with an arrest last night in Woodland.

The pursuit began when an officer tried to stop a vehicle about 11 p.m. Thursday on Pioneer Avenue near Farnham Avenue. The driver fled southbound on Pioneer Avenue at an estimated 80 mph, according to police.

The chase continued westbound on East Gum Avenue and then to East Street. Other officers caught up when the suspect vehicle hit a curb at Fourth Street and Gum Avenue.

There, the driver got out of his vehicle and started running. He was apprehended by officers after a short chase.

Silverio Delgado Jr., 30, of Woodland was arrested on suspicion of evading arrest, driving under the influence and resisting arrest.
