Woodland police said a teenager was shot in the head with a BB gun that was allegedly wielded by his young friend.
Officers said the 14-year-old boy was holding a shirt to the his left temple when they arrived at an apartment complex in the 600 block of Cottowood Street about 3:30 p.m. Monday.
The boy was transported to the UC Medical Center for treatment of his injury, which was not life-threatening.
A witness told officers that youngsters were playing with a BB gun in the complex parking lot. The low-powered gun was found hidden in some bushes, police said.
The injured boy's 12-year-old friend was issued a citation for allegedly negligently discharging a BB gun. He was turned over to a parent.
