Sacramento police officers discovered the bodies of a couple in their Natomas home Sunday morning after family members said they hadn't heard from them for nearly two days.
The man was identified as Grant High School assistant football coach Ed Coleman, according to school officials.
The Bee was unable to identify the woman, as the Sacramento County Coroners Office did not release the names of the two people.
Word of Coleman's death spread quickly through the Grant Pacers community. "Some people know now and others will find out tomorrow," Grant High Principal Craig Murray said. "We don't know the details, but everyone is upset. It's just a tragedy. We want our kids to know we are there for them."
Murray said chaplains will be at the school Monday for students and staff.
Sacramento police spokeswoman Officer Michele Gigante said the bodies of a man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s were found by officers in the 2900 block of Holdrege Way around 8:40 a.m. on Sunday.
Gigante said both of the subjects had gunshot wounds and a firearm was found near the bodies.
"At this point, there are no outstanding suspects," Gigante said.
