Juvenile father arrested in Woodland baby kidnapping

A 16-year-old father was arrested today for investigation of kidnapping his 5-week-old baby from the child's mother, police said.

Sgt. Steve Sexton reported that the kidnapping occurred Saturday night at a home in the 1200 block of Alice Street in Woodland.

Police responded to the call shortly 10:30 p.m. Witnesses told police that the suspect argued with the 16-year-old mother of the baby before forcibly taking the child and leaving in a vehicle.

After about 45 minutes, the suspect returned the child to the mother and fled again before police arrived, authorities said.

When the suspect came back a third time, shortly before 1 a.m. today, he was arrested by waiting officers. He was booked into Yolo County Juvenile Hall.
