Sacramento police this week arrested a 38-year-old teacher on suspicion of lewd acts with a minor.
Michael Digino was released from the Sacramento County Main Jail on Wednesday, according to jail booking records.
Digino taught at Merryhill School in the Pocket area until the allegations came to light, according to a letter to parents from the school's principal, Denise Ondrof.
"We have never had any concerns or complaints about Mr. DiGino in the past, and we are aware that he has no prior criminal record," Ondrof wrote. "He is no longer employed at our school, and we will of course be cooperating fully with any investigative inquiries from the authorities."
According to Ondrof's letter, the assaults were alleged to have taken place in 2009. Officer Doug Morse, a police spokesman, said the victim is female and that she is now a teenager, but would not say how old the victim was at the time of the alleged attacks.
Located on the 7300 block of Park City Drive is Merryhill School, a private school for students in 4th through 8th grade.
Morse said police suspect there could be more victims involved in the case and urge anyone who might have had inappropriate contact with Digino to contact police at(916) 264-5471 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-4357.
