Three convicted murderers receive lengthy prison terms

By Andy Furillo

Three gang members received lengthy prison terms today for their convictions on murder and other charges in the Jan. 10, 2011, shooting death of Deandre James Ellison in the driveway of his Del Paso Heights home.

Jesse Juan Cornejo, 23, received a term of 130 years to life, plus two months, from Sacramento Superior Court Judge Cheryl Chun Meegan. Cornejo's brother, Adam Michael Cornejo, 18, and Isaac Vasquez, 17, were each sentenced to 129 years to life, plus four months.

According to evidence at trial, the defendants -- found by jurors to be acting for the benefit of their street gang -- shot and killed Ellison, 20, following an exchange of hard looks in front of the victim's house.
