One man was killed and another seriously injured in shootings early today in the 7600 block of Daya Way, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.
Sgt. Jason Ramos said deputies prior to the shootings had gone to a home at Countryfield Drive and Daya Way southeast of Gerber and Power Inn roads after complaints about a loud party there.
Deputies returned at 2:45 a.m. after reports of gunshots, Ramos said.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found the two gunshot victims. The 39-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was transported to a hospital with what officials called life-threatening injuries.
The 19-year-old male was found on the sidewalk several houses away. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Ramos said an investigation into the shootings and a possible motive is ongoing. Several dozen people at the scene, including partygoers, were detained and questioned.
He said investigators have pieced together some information. But he said it was preliminary and could not be immediately released.
