Woodland boy reports suspicious encounter with truck driver

Woodland police are investigating a report that a man may have tried to lure a boy into a truck late this afternoon.

An officer responded to a report of suspicious circumstances. A 12-year-old boy told the officer that he was outside Lee Middle School, 520 West St., about 5:20 p.m. when a man in a pickup pulled up next to him.

The man asked the boy if he knew what time is was. He then asked the youth if he wanted to look in the truck, and then if he wanted to get in the truck, according to a Police Department news release. After the boy said "No" to each question, the man drove away from the area.

The man was described as Latino, balding, with a short goatee and tattoos, including one of a snake wrapped around a dagger, covering his right arm.

The vehicle was described as a late-model, gray-colored pickup with a white sheet covering an unknown object in the truck bed.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Woodland police dispatch at (530) 666-2411.
