A 54-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a shooting in Winters on Saturday.
Winters police received numerous calls about 3 p.m. regarding a shooting near Third and Baker streets. Callers said a 49-year-old man had suffered gunshot wounds.
Officers found the alleged shooter in the 600 block of Third Street standing near a blue Chevrolet Impala.
The suspect, identified as Douglas Bledsoe, a transient and former Winters resident, was detained by officers and a handgun was recovered, according to a Police Department news release.
The California Highway Patrol and Yolo County Sheriff's Department arrived to assist police, and the 600 block of Third Street was closed for the crime scene investigation.
The victim was transported to Kaiser Hospital in Vacaville. Police said he suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover.
Officials said the preliminary investigation indicated that Bledsoe and the victim had argued just before the shooting.
In addition to attempted murder, Bledsoe was arrested on suspicion of several firearm violations, according to the news release. He was booked into Yolo County Jail.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call Officer Justin Wilson at (530) 795-4561.
