Co-worker tracks down man left for dead on Yolo County road

Yolo County sheriff's deputies are investigating an attempted homicide after an Arbuckle man was found with stab wounds on County Line Road in the Dunnigan area.

Deputies responded to the scene at the Colusa County line at 12:15 a.m. Monday.

When the 49-year-old man did not show up for his scheduled midnight shift at Adams Vegetable Oils Inc. in Colusa County, a co-worker called the man's cell phone. The man was able to answer the phone and told the co-worker that he was on County Line Road and was dying, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.

The co-worker drove the route that the man usually traveled to work and found him lying on the side of the road with stab wounds to his upper body and head. He was airlifted to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition today.

The man's vehicle was not at the scene. Yolo County deputies found it on County Road 99W, south of County Line Road.

Detectives ask anyone with information regarding the case to call the Yolo County Sheriff's Investigation Unit at (530) 668-5212.
