In an effort to open lines of communication between citizens and law enforcement, Elk Grove police officers will answer questions from the public at the "Coffee with a Cop" program, Thursday, Oct. 11 from 7 to 9 a.m. at two Starbucks locations, 8868 Bond Road, and 2300 Longport Court.

"Coffee with a Cop" is a way to strengthen the relationship between the police department and the community, said Elk Grove Police Chief Robert Lehner.

"We believe that this type of open dialog plays a critical role in establishing a true partnership between the community and the police department," Lehner said.

Community members will be able to ask general questions or raise specific issues about neighborhoods they live in.

For more information, contact Denise Costello at the police department, (916) 478-8117, or Sgt. James Fuller at (916) 627-3727.

Additional dates and locations for "Coffee with a Cop" events will be posted on the Elk Grove police website at www.elkgrovepd.org, as they are scheduled.
