A man accused of failing for 21 years to pay court-ordered child support has been arrested in El Dorado County.
Martin Seebach, 58, was arrested Monday and is charged in a criminal complaint with two felony charges of grand theft against his now adult children. He also is charged with four misdemeanor counts of disobeying a court order, for failing to pay the court-ordered monthly amounts toward his child support arrears, according to an El Dorado County District Attorney's Office news release.
Over the last 21 years, Seebach has failed to comply with his court-ordered obligations and currently has an arrears balance totaling more than $600,000, the highest in the county, authorities said.
Seebach, as a result of a divorce action, was ordered to pay child support for his then three minor children. The action originated in Sacramento County in 1993 and was transferred to El Dorado County in 1996.
The El Dorado County District Attorney's Office previously filed criminal complaints against Seebach for his failures in 2000 and 2002. All previous attempts to get Seebach to pay his child support have been unsuccessful, according to the DA's office.
Seebach was booked into El Dorado County Jail and is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail.
