A man who broke into multiple homes and fled from police is behind bars, authorities said.

Officers were called out to the 8400 block of Pearl Way in Citrus Heights at 10:30 p.m. Friday for a botched burglary attempt. Police said the suspect, identified as Daniel Travis Tinney of Fair Oaks, fled in a stolen vehicle after the homeowner confronted him.

The 23-year-old Tinney crashed the vehicle into a telephone pole near Twin Oaks Avenue and Mariposa Avenue and then fled on foot, according to police reports.

Shortly after, a resident of the 7600 block of Roberts Lane called police after the suspect entered his house and "made threats to shoot the people inside." A police helicopter found Tinney leaving the house and making his way towards another home at the 7600 block of Twin Oaks Avenue.

Police then took Tinney into custody and booked him into Sacramento County Jail on multiple charges, including burglary and home invasion, according to reports.
