Remarkably, CHP officials say, two people suffered only minor injuries this evening when a Toyota ended up halfway under a big rig.
The crash occurred about 8:45 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 80 near the Madison Avenue onramp. CHP spokeswoman Officer Lizz Dutton said details on how the collision occurred were not immediately available, but a Toyota ended partly under the big rig, with the two vehicles partially in the slow lane and on the right shoulder. Another car ended up in the center divider.
Crashes such as this usually result in a fatality, Dutton said, but the drivers of the Toyota and the other car apparently suffered minor injuries. The truck driver was not injured.
The freeway was cleared at 9:46 p.m., the CHP reported.
