Alert Target store security were instrumental in the arrest of a man for allegedly attacking a woman on a Folsom bike trail and sexually shadowing female shoppers.
Timothy Christopher Ortiz, 25, of Sacramento was arrested on suspicion of assault with intent to commit a sex crime and sexual battery.
A Folsom police press release reported that the man is suspected of attacking a woman jogger on the Humbug Willowcreek Trail where the path crosses under Blue Ravine Road at Riley Street at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
The woman provided a good description of her attacker to police, but officers were not able to find the suspect even though they mounted a search of the area a short time after the assault.
However, 90 minutes later, security officers at the nearby Target store on Blue Ravine Road saw a man following women inside the store. While tracking the women through the store, the man was allegedly lewdly touching himself.
Store security called police and arrested Ortiz who they said had a warrant for his arrest for alleged sexual battery in another jurisdiction. The Folsom jogger was also able to identify him as her attacker.
