Five people were arrested today on suspicion of transporting marijuana for sale after a Yolo County sheriff's deputy made an an early-morning welfare check on occupants of a U-Haul truck.
The truck was parked on County Road 82b, off Highway 16 near Capay at 2:30 a.m. While speaking with the occupants, the deputy smelled the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.
Other deputies arrived and searched the truck. During the search, they found more than 25 bags of marijuana weighing approximately 16 pounds, officials said.
Deputies arrested Jill Dintleman, 45, of Corona; Lisa Levesque, 47, of Mesa, Ariz.; Jessie Antonsen, 23, of Garberville; Dennis Johnson, 21, of Eureka; and Angela Antonsen, 42, whose place of residence was not given.
All were booked into the Yolo County Jail.
