Coroner: Sacramento murder victim died of trauma and asphyxiation

A Sacramento man found dead in his home Monday afternoon died from blunt force trauma and asphyxiation from a plastic bag being placed over his head, according to Sacramento County coroner's reports.

Police arrested a 52-year-old woman on suspicion of murder in connection with the death. Yanqun Tan is in custody at the county jail, where she is ineligible for bail. No court dates have been set in the case.

The victim's name is not being released, pending notification of relatives, but he is described as a male, age 55.

Police discovered the man's body in a home on Emerald Creek Court, near Lemon Hill Avenue and the 65th Street Expressway, after being alerted by a female caller about a possible dead person at the address.

Tan also lives at the house, but police have not said what her relationship is to the man, nor have they speculated about a motive for the killing.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP.
