A man robbed a Woodland convenience market Sunday night then drove down the street to check into a motel - where he was arrested, police say.
Woodland police said a masked gunman robbed the 7-Eleven at 1229 East Main St. about 7:30 p.m. Sunday. At about 8 p.m., an officer saw a vehicle matching the description of the getaway car in the parking lot of the Quality Inn, 1562 East Main St.
A woman next to the vehicle, Jackie Hayes, 47, of Woodland, said she was the owner. Inside the vehicle, the officers found a shirt and a BB gun matching the description of the robber's clothing and stickup gun.
Then, Walter Hayes, 51, of Woodland, walked out of a motel room, which then was searched, police said. Inside the room, cash and a ski mask were found.
Motel management said the couple had paid for the room in cash shortly before 8 p.m. Both were booked into Yolo County Jail on suspicion of robbery.
