Police say Robla homicide victim suffered 'obvious signs of trauma'

By Kim Minugh and Bill Lindelof

The elderly woman found dead in her Robla apartment Wednesday night suffered "obvious signs of trauma" to her body, according to Sacramento police.

However, police have not yet disclosed the nature of her injuries.

The victim, a woman in her 70s, lived alone in an apartment in the 4300 block of Norwood Avenue. Family members entered the apartment Wednesday night after not hearing from her for about a day, said police spokesman Officer Doug Morse.

Inside, they found her body. They immediately called police.

Morse said that when officers arrived on scene, it was "immediately apparent" this was a homicide case. He said he could not discuss the circumstances that led officers to that conclusion, but later elaborated to say the woman's body showed "obvious signs of trauma."

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators remain on scene.
