A 44-year-old accused child molester was arrested in Orland today after being on the lam since January 2011, according to authorities.
The Tehama County Sheriff's Department was investigating allegations that Pascual DeJesus had repeatedly committed lewd and sexual acts with a child under the age of 14 when he fled, according to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service's Eastern District of California.
The next month, a warrant was issued for his arrest, but DeJesus was believed to be in Mexico, the release states.
Today, members of the Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force went to Orland to interview DeJesus' family members. While they were there, a van pulled up with a man authorities believed to be DeJesus. The man refused to give his name, but family members identified the man as DeJesus, the release states.
The Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force is a U.S. Marshals-sponsored group made up of federal, state and local authorities.
