Rancho Cordova Police are investigating the death of man who was found severely beaten in front of a pet clinic this evening.
Sheriff's Sgt. Jason Ramos, spokesman for the Police Department, said an officer was en route to another call about 8 p.m. when he was flagged down by a Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District crew that had responded to a report of an assault victim at Folsom Boulevard and La Loma Drive.
They had been flagged down by a woman who reported that a man was severely injured in front of the pet clinic. They found the man on the ground with a bicycle at 2890 La Loma Drive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ramos said the man appeared to be 30 to 40 years old and had suffered severe trauma to his head and upper body.He said it was not immediately evident whether the man had been beaten or stabbed.
Investigators were interviewing the woman who contacted firefighters and also canvassing a nearby apartment complex.
