Sacramento police have released a description of a pickup truck sought in connection with the hit-and-run death of a 61-year-old bicyclist Sunday.
Police said the Molly Arndt was riding her bicycle across Stockton Boulevard near Lawrence Drive about 5:45 p.m. Sunday when she was hit by a white pickup truck heading northbound. Arndt was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries.
Police spokeswoman Officier Michele Gigante said today that based on evidence found at the scene, police are looking for a 1992 to 1998 white Chevy 1500 pickup with a tool box in the back. It is believed to have a damaged driver's side headlight assembly.
Gangante said no description of the driver was available. Witnesses reported that the pickup driver appeared to hit the brakes just before striking the bicyclist, slowed down following the collision and then sped away without stopping.
