Update: Driver killed in head-on collision near Lincoln identified as Live Oak man

The driver who died this morning in a head-on collision near Lincoln has been identified by the Placer County Sheriff's Department as Gabriel Rodriguez, 53, of Live Oak.

The collision was caused by a suspected drunken driver, who suffered major injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers were called to the crash on Sierra College Boulevard near Twelve Bridges Drive about 6:20 a.m. The CHP reported that the crash involved two minivans and a truck.

A CHP officer said that one of the minivan drivers traveling northbound crossed into the southbound lane, hitting the other minivan. The driver that crossed over center line is suspected of driving under the influence.

He was transported to a hospital by helicopter with major injuries.
