A man wanted on an out-of-county warrant has been taken into custody in Rancho Cordova after he initially failed to respond to law enforcement officers seeking to arrest him.
Some residents were concerned when they saw officers massing at Mitchell Middle School at 2100 Zinfandel Drive. Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Jason Ramos said the school was used as a staging area for deputies, including SWAT officers who were called when the man did not respond to requests to come out of a residence in the 2000 block of Zinfandel .
Ramos said it was known that two juveniles were in the home, and authorities were concerned about a possible hostage situation.
The incident began about 4 p.m., and the man was taken into custody shortly after 6 p.m., Ramos said.
Officials declined to release the man's name until he is booked. Ramos said the warrant for the man's arrest involved felonies related to a domestic incident in another county.
