Not a Hallmark ending for Woodland card store burglary suspect

A Woodland Hallmark card store was ransacked during a break-in this morning.

Police were called about 12:30 a.m. today to the Hallmark store at 375 West Main St. in the Raley's shopping center where a man was reported to have broken a window and climbed into the store.

Officers ordered anyone inside to come out, but got no reply. A police dog was then let into the store through the broken window.

Minutes later, the dog bit the burglar and dragged him to the ground. Drew Dean Biondo, 29, who police said is a transient on parole for arson, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, violation of parole and obstructing an officer.

Police said numerous merchandise displays were destroyed and items thrown about the store. Fragile pieces of merchandise were shattered, police said.

Store owners estimated at least $10,000 in damage, police said.
