A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a shooting at his Placerville-area home Monday night.
The victim, a 55-year-old Citrus Heights man, was taken by air ambulance to Sutter Roseville Medical Center and is expected to recover from his injuries, officials said.
The El Dorado County Sheriff's Dispatch Center received calls about 7:30 p.m. reporting that gunfire was heard in the 3600 block of Wamego Road, southwest of Placerville. As deputies were en route to the location, a caller reported that someone had been shot at a residence.
Deputies arrived and found the Citrus Heights man with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He was conscious and able to walk, according to a Sheriff's Office news release. Deputies secured the area and obtained medical assistance for the man, who was flown to the Roseville hospital.
During the investigation, deputies were told that Robert Mckiernan, a resident of the Wamego Way home, had shot the man and left the area. At the time of the shooting, the man had been at the residence to visit his daughter, Mckiernan's girlfriend, officials said.
Mckiernan was later found at Marshall Hospital in Placerville, where he sought treatment for minor injuries. Mckiernan was treated, then taken into custody by investigators and booked into El Dorado County Jail.
