Police seek man who robbed 81-year-old Woodland woman

By Cathy Locke
Woodland police are seeking a man who robbed an elderly woman as she was walking home after shopping Sunday morning.

Police said the 81-year-old woman was on foot, returning to the 400 block of Ashley Avenue about 11:15 a.m. She was using a walker with a compartment under the attached seat, and her wallet was in the compartment.

The woman passed a man and, after passing him, she was pushed against him as he reached around her to remove her wallet from the compartment, according to a Police Department news release. He then left on foot.

The woman was not injured in the incident, but her stolen credit cards were subsequently used at various locations around Woodland.

The man was described as approximately 30 years old, wearing a black beanie, tan jacket and blue jeans.

Police said they hope to obtain surveillance video from the area and from the stores where the credit cards were used.

Anyone with information pertaining to the case is asked to call the Woodland Police Department at (530) 661-7800.
