Redding PD: 'Crazed' knife-wielding man at Sears, Walmart is arrested

Redding police said they arrested a knife-wielding man who was acting in a crazed manner inside a Walmart and in a Sears parking lot.

Police said the man, identified as David Michael Macleod, 20, a Redding transient, first threatened a man sitting in his truck in a Sears parking lot about 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Police said Macleod, armed with a crowbar and a knife, threatened to kill the man.

About 15 minutes later, police were called to the nearby Walmart on Dana Drive where "a crazed white male carrying a knife was threatening people and acting irrationally," according to a police press release.

The store manager told police that Macleod allegedly took a cell phone and threatened Walmart employees.

When an officer approached Macleod, he refused to obey commands to drop the knife. The officer used a Taser on Macleod, which caused him to fall.

Macleod was booked into jail on suspicion of robbery, burglary and several counts of brandishing a knife.
