Harding Boulevard in Roseville is closed to traffic in both directions between Estates Drive and Lead Hill Boulevard after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.
Roseville police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther said a man in his 40s was crossing southbound Harding Boulevard in the 200 block at 5:57 p.m. and walked into the path of a Toyota Prius. The driver was unable to stop in time and the vehicle hit the man. Gunther said he was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
She said the accident occurred during rainy conditions, and the man was crossing in mid-block, not in a crosswalk.
Harding Boulevard will remain closed while police investigators examine the scene. Gunther said the investigations typically take several hours. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes this evening to avoid the area.
