Sacramento County Sheriff's Department joins Facebook, Twitter

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department recently has grown its social media presence on Twitter and Facebook as part of its community outreach efforts.

A few months ago, the agency joined Facebook, and this month joined Twitter. Officials are using the accounts to distribute news releases, as well as publicize surveillance videos that show outstanding suspects, said sheriff's Sgt. Jason Ramos.

Remember, though, that crimes should not be reported using either social media site. Emergencies should be reported to 911, and non-urgent matters should be reported by calling sheriff's dispatch at (916) 874-5115.

Find the Sheriff's Department on Facebook at and on Twitter @sacsheriff.
