Victim killed at Arden Arcade apartment identified

Stean Image.jpgThe man shot to death at an Arden-area apartment complex early Saturday morning has been identified as Rickey Howard, 33.

Sacramento sheriff's deputies arrested Donnell DeShawn Stean, 30, photo left, on suspicion of murder later Saturday in connection with the shooting.

Deputies responded to The Pointe Apartments, at 1630 Bell St., about 1:30 a.m. after reports of a shooting. They found two gunshot victims. An 18-year-old man was transported to the hospital for wounds to his upper body.

Howard also suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene, said sheriff's Sgt. Jason Ramos.

Upon questioning of witness, deputies said it appears people were having a party at one of the apartments, when a fight broke out that led to the shooting.

Stean was arrested in Foothill Farms Saturday afternoon and is being held at Sacramento County Jail without bail. He was arrested on one count each of murder and assault with a deadly weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

Anyone with any information on this case is asked to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (916) 874-5115, or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP.
