Woodland police arrest man in attempted kidnapping

A 23-year-old homeless man has been arrested in the attempted kidnapping of a woman Sunday at a Woodland shopping center.

Police reported that Kyle Hall was taken into custody without incident at 3 :40 p.m. today in the parking lot at 1720 E. Main St.

About 3:35 p.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to the Westgate Shopping center at 367 Main St. regarding an attempted kidnapping. A 31-year-old Woodland woman reported that she was walking between parked vehicles in the parking lot when a man seated in a pickup truck opened his door, blocking her way. She said the man grabbed her by the hair and pulled her toward the truck.

The woman yelled for help and as a bystander approached, the man released the victim and drove eastbound on West Main Street.

The woman was not injured.

Hall was booked into the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of false imprisonment and attempted kidnapping.

The incident is still under investigation, and police ask anyone with information regarding the case to call the Woodland Police Department at (530) 661-7800.
