Woodland police investigate shooting that wounded 18-year-old

Woodland police are investigating a Sunday night shooting incident in which an 18-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.

Police responded at 8:41 p.m. to multiple reports of a gunshot in the the 1200 block of Donnelly Circle. The victim reportedly was seen getting into a car that immediately left the area, a police news release stats.

About 10 minutes later, officers were dispatched to Woodland Memorial Hospital to investigate a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound. They found an 18-year-old Woodland resident with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower right leg. The man was later taken by ambulance to Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael for further treatment.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call the Woodland Police Department at (530) 666-2411. Callers may remain anonymous.
