QUESTION: I would like to know the names and how much time the three men got for the killing of Ricky Collier on Dec. 10, 2000, in G Parkway.
Submitted by: Teia, Sacramento
ANSWER: Three men were arrested and sentenced to prison in the fatal shooting of 31-year-old Ricky Collier.
According to stories in The Bee, Collier was shot in an alley after he apparently was double-crossed during a drug deal. A female friend told police that she had dropped Collier off in the area, and as she drove around the front of the building, she heard gunshots.
According to Sacramento Superior Court online records, a jury convicted two of the men, Mario Hall and Manuel Primas, of first-degree murder and attempted robbery. Each was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
The third man, Eddie Watts, pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
Hall, 31, is at California State Prison, Sacramento, in Folsom, and Primas, 37, is at California State Prison, Los Angeles County, in Lancaster. Watts, 40, is at a California out-of-state correctional facility in Oklahoma.
