Auburn man tried to run down woman and his son, police say

By Brad Branan

An Auburn man tried to hit his son and a woman with his vehicle on Christmas Eve, police said.

Michael Anthony Hernandez, 63, was involved in a domestic dispute at his home with a woman who received injuries in various areas of her body, according to a news release from the Auburn Police Department.

The victim attempted to call authorities when Hernandez pulled the phone from the wall, police said. The woman later escaped the home, and was attempting to drive away when Hernandez tried to hit her vehicle with his vehicle but missed.

Hernandez's son was in the area and noticed the commotion. Hernandez unsuccessfully tried to hit his son, who was on foot, police said.

Hernandez was driving under the influence, police said. He was booked into the Placer County Jail and held on $50,000 bond.
