A heavy oak tree fell on a truck this morning near Rescue, crushing the driver but sparing the life of a boy.
A California Highway Patrol officer said the Ford 150 pickup was traveling westbound on Green Valley Road near Ponderosa Road about 8 a.m. today when the tree fell. The limb crushed the cab of the truck.
The driver, about 50 years old, died but the 10-year-old passenger was not injured, according to the CHP.
