A 19-day winter holiday campaign to crackdown on people driving under the influence in Sacramento County resulted in 44 DUI arrests Saturday, more than double the number arrested during the same 24-hour period a year ago, authorities said.
The California Highway Patrol will continue it maximum enforcement program through midnight Tuesday, according to a Folsom Police Department news release, with additional DUI patrols will be deployed in Elk Grove on Sunday night.
During the enforcement period, all regularly scheduled traffic and patrol officers will be focusing on stopping and arresting DUI drivers during
their shifts. Multiple DUI checkpoints and roving DUI patrols are also underway.
Saturday's 44 arrests by 14 area law enforcement agencies compare with 18 during the same period a year ago, the Folsom Police Department reported.
