Man arrested in Placer County linked to thefts in Truckee

An arrest in Placer County has led to the recovery of numerous items reported stolen from vehicles in Truckee over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Truckee police took several theft reports over the Thanksgiving weekend involving the theft of items from unlocked vehicles. The items included electronics and other personal property, according to a Police Department news release.

On Monday, Placer County sheriff's deputies arrested Wiley Washam of Truckee in an unrelated matter. During the investigation, a detective noticed that Washam had a distinctive item in his possession. The detective notified Truckee police detectives, who confirmed that the item was recently stolen in Truckee.

After obtaining additional information, Truckee police searched a local residence and recovered numerous stolen items, including pieces of identification belonging to victims, which linked many of the Thanksgiving weekend theft cases to Washam, officials said.

The occupant of the Truckee residence, Brittany Nash, was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property, conspiracy and criminal activity while on bail. Washam was additionally accused of possessing stolen property and conspiracy.
