Officer ordered to stay away from victim in rape case

RB Baker Arraignment 3A.jpgThe Sacramento police officer accused of raping a 77-year-old woman made his first appearance today in Sacramento Superior Court.

Gary Dale Baker said nothing and waived the reading of the charges against him during his appearance that took less than two minutes in front of Judge Kevin J. McCormick.

Deputy District Attorney Amy Holliday served Baker, 49, with a protective order that he stay away from the alleged victim.

Baker's lawyer, Linda Parisi, said, "We look forward to our participation in the process in order to clear Officer Baker's name."

McCormick scheduled Baker's next court date for Jan. 17.
