Pedestrian killed in Highway 50 onramp hit-and-run

A 65-year-old pedestrian was killed Christmas eve when she was hit by a vehicle while crossing a Highway 50 onramp in Rancho Cordova.

The female pedestrian was walking across a Sunrise Boulevard onramp to westbound Highway 50 about 5 p.m. Monday when a vehicle hit her and did not stop. The California Highway Patrol is still looking for the hit-and-run driver.

After the initial striking of the woman by the unknown driver, her body, still in an onramp lane, was struck by a motorcycle and a car.

The CHP reports that the fatal injuring of the pedestrian occurred at dusk and that the street lights were inoperable. The Sacramento County Coroner's Office has not released the name of the pedestrian.
