The Sacramento man arrested after making false statements to the police and a prolonged standoff early Tuesday has been identified as Antonio Mata, 51.
Mata surrendered to Sacramento police after a long standoff with officers at a South Land Land Park apartment.
Mata called police about 6 a.m. to say he had harmed a family member, a statement that later turned out to be untrue. Officers responded to his apartment in the 6000 block of South Land Park Drive, near 43rd Avenue.
Police spent several hours attempting to peacefully resolve the situation before Mata came out of the apartment and surrendered to officers around 10:30 a.m. He is being charged with making a false report to a dispatcher and resisting arrest for his actions Tuesday. He is also being charged with a violating a restraining order, relating to his actions Monday, police said.
