Detectives allege the men shot the victim, 60-year-old Kelly McClurg, during an attempt to rob him of marijuana, according to the Sheriff's Department.

The suspects were acquaintances of the victim, officials said.

Kailan James, 22, was arrested on suspicion of the same charges in Phoenix and will be extradited to Sacramento County.
