Shortly after 7 a.m., police and paramedics were called to the 5900 block of Valley Hi Drive for an unresponsive person in the road. They found a man in his 20s, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined a car was travelling eastbound on Valley Hi Drive when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway. They found evidence of a broken headlamp and turn signal at the scene, and believe that the suspect vehicle has damage to its right side.

Officers canvassed the area but were not able to locate witnesses, according to police. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Doug Tracy at (916) 808-6030 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP.
