Sacramento County sheriff's detectives seek the public's help to identify three men wanted in connection with a shooting in south Sacramento County earlier this month in which a child was nearly hit by gunfire.
The incident occurred in the parking lot of a busy shopping area, and detectives hope people in the community will recognize the individuals depicted in the surveillance video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buhDsXEXwjY
On Dec. 10, deputies responded to a report of gunshots fired at ShopSmart in the 7600 block of Stockton Boulevard. When they arrived, deputies located a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire. An 11-month-old girl seated in the backseat of the car was nearly hit, according to a Sheriff's Department news release. She suffered minor injuries from shattered glass from the car windows during that shooting.
Investigators learned that three individuals (pictured in the video) who had been at the shopping plaza had argued briefly with the male occupants of the vehicle in which the child was seated. One of the suspects then produced and handgun and fired nearly a dozen shots at the vehicle, narrowly missing several people, before fleeing.
Two of the suspects were described as Latino men and the third as a Latino or Asian man. Officials said they are believed to be in their early to mid-20s, ranging from 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighing between 150 and 190 pounds. They fled in a gold Dodge or Chrysler minivan.
Anyone with information regarding the identity of any of the individuals is asked to call the Sheriff's Department at (916) 874-5115. Tips also may be left on the website at www.sacsheriff.com, by sending a text message to 274637 and entering the keyword SSD, or by calling (916) 874-8477.
