A Union Pacific freight train that originated in Roseville struck and killed a man sitting on Union Pacific railroad tracks in Davis this morning.
The man was hit about two miles from the nearest railroad crossing. An investigation is underway, according to UP.
Davis police said that they initially were called to the fatality at about 4:30 a.m., responding to the area of Second Street and Pena Drive.
CBS Sacramento reported the accident affected Capitol Corridor train commuters but there are no longer any delays after Amtrak opened a second track.
