A Sacramento police officer spotted a vehicle he remembered from a week-old hit-and-run case, leading to the arrest of the driver Saturday night.
A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle on Jan. 18 at Alhambra Boulevard and Broadway, throwing him to the ground. The driver drove away shortly after hitting the bicyclist.
The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and was treated and released.
About 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, the police officer who responded to the Jan. 18 crash saw a vehicle matching the description of the one that hit the bicyclist. He stopped the driver at 33rd St. and 3rd Ave.
"The officer noticed fresh damage in the car's quarter panel and remembered the vehicle description from the report he had taken the week before," said Officer Doug Morse, police spokesman.
Donald Morgan, 67, was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
